A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney's east this evening.
Shortly before 5pm (Friday 22 September 2023), emergency services were called to Fitzgerald Avenue, Maroubra, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
On arrival, a woman – believed to be aged in her 70s – was located with critical injuries.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however she died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
A female driver was not injured, and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Fitzgerald Avenue remains closed, with local diversions in place.
