Woman Dies After House Fire At Glen Innes

A woman has died following a structure fire at a Glen Innes home earlier today.

About 9.15am (Friday 13 September 2024), emergency services were called to a home on Bourke Street, Glen Innes, following reports of a fire.

Firefighters attended and extinguished the blaze before locating a body during a subsequent search of the home.

The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of a 79-year-old woman.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
