A woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a car following an alleged road rage incident in Dubbo yesterday.
About 10.50am (Thursday 3 September), emergency services were called to Cobra Street, near the intersection of Brigalow Avenue, following reports a woman had been struck by a car that failed to stop.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were told three vehicles – a Holden Commodore, Toyota Prado and Kia Rio – pulled to the side of the road and the drivers were involved in a verbal altercation.
Police will allege the Holden driver, a 43-year-old woman, returned to her vehicle and drove at the Toyota driver, a 41-year-old woman, who was standing on the road, before driving away.
The younger woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Dubbo Base Hospital. She was later airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established and examined by forensic officers.
Following inquiries, the 43-year-old woman was arrested at Dubbo Police Station about 11.10am.
She was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Friday 4 September 2020).
