Woman killed during Mooroopna incident

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident in Mooroopna this morning where a woman was killed, Victoria Police say.

It’s believed a woman was driving south on Echuca Road just after 5am when she has pulled up due to cattle on the road.

The woman has then gotten out of her vehicle, leaving the hazard lights on.

The exact circumstances surrounding what happened next are unclear at this stage, however three vehicles appear to have been travelling northbound and a collision has subsequently occurred.

The woman, who is aged in her 50s, died at the scene.

The drivers of the other three vehicles, a 42-year-old man, 40-year-old man and a 65-year-old man, were all injured in the incident and transported to hospital.

All drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Seven cattle were also killed as a result of the incident.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are currently en route to the scene and will assist local police with the investigation.

Echuca Road is currently closed just north of the intersection with Ardmona Road and is expected to be closed for much of the day.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw cattle on the road this morning or any of the vehicles in the lead up to the incident.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
