A woman has been charged with multiple traffic offences – including drink-driving – after an alleged hit and run at Bonnyrigg overnight.
About 5.30pm (Monday 16 January 2023), emergency services were called to Tarlington Parade and found a 27-year-old man suffering leg and abdominal injuries.
Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have been told the man was about to get his two small children out of his car when he was allegedly struck by an SUV which continued driving.
He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital where he's reported to be in a serious but stable condition. The children were not injured.
A short time later, the alleged driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene and was taken to Fairfield Police Station.
She allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.061 before being taken to hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established with specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit now conducting inquiries.
The woman, who is from Mt Pritchard, has now been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact cause grievous bodily harm, and low-range PCA. Her licence has been suspended.
She's been granted conditional bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Monday 6 February 2023.
