Australia's leading contractors have come together in a powerful show of support to provide women from outside the industry with the opportunity to have a look at live construction sites.
Today, the Australian Constructors Association (ACA), with the support of the NSW Government, launched the "It's Possible" campaign to encourage mid-career women to consider a career change into construction.
ACA CEO Jon Davies said that many women either haven't considered a career in construction or have misgivings about the industry.
"We hear time and time again that women don't apply for jobs because they don't tick every box," said Mr Davies.
"The 'It's Possible' campaign shows women that they already have the skills to thrive in construction.
"If we can give women the chance to visit our sites and experience it for themselves, they'll see that construction has fantastic opportunities for everyone."
The campaign features stories of women who have made the switch to construction, including Moreta, who swapped a desk job as a claims manager for a fulfilling career in construction.
"Before construction, I was a claims manager. I was stuck at a desk all day and needed a change. What I like most about construction is the job variety, every day is different. And if anyone says women can't work in construction' it's not true. More and more women are joining the industry."
Women are invited to sign up for exclusive tours of four major infrastructure projects in NSW. Participants will get a firsthand look at live construction sites, experience the daily work environment and hear from women who have already made the successful transition to construction.
"This is the perfect opportunity to see for yourself what construction can offer," said Mr Davies.
"Take the first step — sign up today and discover a career that could change your life."
The "It's Possible" initiative was funded by the NSW Government Women in Construction Industry Innovation Program.
