Streets in Fairfield's City Centre will come alive when Wonderful Wednesday returns in 2021 with the Fiesta Viva Mariachi Band on 31 March between 11.30am - 1.30pm.

The band will be roaming Ware and Spencer streets, and Thomas Ware Plaza drawing attention to Fairfield's unique shopping experience.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the monthly event is just one of the ways Council is supporting local businesses in Fairfield.

"Ensuring our city and town centres remain vibrant is an important focus of Council. Our centres are the beating hearts of the City and focal points of business, culture and entertainment," Mayor Carbone said.

"Wonderful Wednesday returns this month following a year-long break due to the pandemic.

"We will continue to invest in our City to ensure our local businesses do well, and encouraging shoppers to visit from across our City and beyond is just one part of Council's economic and social COVID recovery plan."

Wonderful Wednesday is a monthly event held in Fairfield's Ware and Spencer streets, and Thomas Ware Plaza encouraging shoppers to come down to enjoy free entertainment and 'Experience Cosmopolitan Shopping'.

Council staff will also be on hand to give away free canvas shopping bags to shoppers.
