Woodcroft Fire Contained, Investigation Launched

Police and fire crews remain in Woodcroft following yesterday afternoons fire.

Just before 5pm, yesterday (Tuesday 23 December) emergency services responded to a fire on Education Road at Woodcroft after reports of fire burning in scrub.

CFS with the assistance of air support, MFS and SAPOL all attended the fire and moved quickly to contain the fire and keep the public safe.

At 7.30pm, the CFS had sufficiently contained the fire, and the threat to public was reduced with no injuries to any member of the public.

Police are not aware of any damage to any buildings or structures.

The fire ground was deemed unsafe last night to commence the investigation, however this morning Investigators from Southern District CIB and forensic officers have been able to establish that the cause of the fire is undetermined but are treating it as suspicious.

Detectives from Southern District CIB have commenced other investigations separate to the fire ground and ask anybody who hasn't spoken to police and may have some information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
