A driver has died after it left the road and collided with a tree before catching fire in Woodstock yesterday.
It is believed the car was travelling south along Merriang Road when it overtook numerous vehicles on the wrong side of the road on Sunday, 15 December about 5.50pm.
Officers were told that the driver swerved back onto the correct side of the road, before losing control and crashing into a tree.
The driver and only occupant, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
A secondary collision occurred between three vehicles travelling behind the car when they attempted to stop. No was injured as a result of the secondary collision.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
