Bega Valley Shire Library invites senior members of the community to a new free monthly event, Words & Music, starting on Friday 5 November at the Tura Marrang Library.
"Words & Music participants will be able to discuss books, films and music around a common theme or era, and be entertained by local musicians and performers," Library Services Coordinator, Megan Jordan-Jones said.
"It's a unique program to bring seniors together to enjoy some company and be entertained.
"Morning tea will be provided, and free transport is available for those who need it."
Ms Jordan-Jones said participants can take home books to read or DVDs to watch before the following month's program and choose from the library's collection to further their reading.
"We are always looking for new ways to engage with the community and our hope is that Words & Music will provide plenty of discussion, music and fun, in a friendly and welcoming environment," she said.
"We are still recovering from COVID-19 lockdown and isolation, particularly some of our senior citizens.
"This wonderful program will help dust off the cobwebs and revive our spirits."
In alignment with the NSW Government's roadmap and health advice, participants over 16 years old will need to be fully vaccinated to access the library.
People wanting to attend the inaugural Words & Music event can book a spot by phoning Tura Marrang Library on (02) 6499 2340 or book online: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/words-and-music-tura-marrang-library-tickets-162001897035
To be held on the first Friday of each month, Words & Music is funded under the NSW Government's Reducing Social Isolation for Seniors Grant Program.
