Construction has been completed on a new public car park located at the corner of Railway Street and Ulong Street (69 Railway Street) Griffith. The $500,000 program was fully funded by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new car park contains 49 car spaces, including 16 shaded spaces, two accessible spaces, drainage works and landscaping.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi said the construction of the carpark is just another way Council is making living and working in Griffith easier.
"Providing parking within the CBD has long been recognised as a priority for the community and I am pleased to be able to announce that work has been completed, and the car park is accessible to road users," said Councillor Dal Broi.
"We appreciate the patience of the community and hope this eases the parking congestion in Banna Avenue and Yambil Street.
"Griffith is thriving and this is just one of the many projects recently completed, underway or in the planning stages which will help grow Griffith into the future."
