Work will begin soon that will provide another entry point to the Manning River at Moores Road, Bootawa.
MidCoast Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Robert Scott, said the project was a win all round for the community.
"This project provides residents and visitors with another entry point to the picturesque Manning River but it has also been fully funded by a NSW Government Grant," he said.
Only the first 600 metres of the road is currently formed and maintained.
Beyond that point is a basic track that follows the public road reserve to the river.
Council will extend the formal gravel road to a suitable point that will allow recreational access to the river.
Work will begin early August and completely funded through the NSW Department of Primary Industries through the Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program.
Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson echoed Mr Scott's thoughts that the project will directly benefit residents and visitors by providing more opportunities for recreational activities and enhancing the enjoyment of the Manning River.
"This initiative is a fantastic example of how government grants can directly benefit our local communities," Ms Thompson said.
"It's a win-win situation that highlights the importance of investing in our natural resources and recreational infrastructure. I'm proud to support a project that promises to deliver long-term benefits for our community."
It is expected to be complete by November, weather permitting.
