It is believed the 36-year-old was using a winch to position a mould for casting when the metal bucket, which was holding a length of chain, broke free from the top of a gantry, striking him on the head.
WorkSafe is investigating.
The death is the 29th confirmed workplace fatality for 2024. There were 55 work-related deaths at the same time last year.
