The redevelopment of Montello Primary School will commence next month, with the appointment of local building contractor Mead Con Building and Construction.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said Mead Con will establish on the Montello site next week, and works will get underway during the Term 3 break.
"The Montello Primary School redevelopment will deliver new contemporary learning spaces, bathroom and accessibility upgrades and improvements to onsite parking and traffic management," Minister Palmer said.
"The project is part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government's significant investment in new and upgraded facilities to support our learners and their families and our hardworking educators and school staff."
The total project budget for the redevelopment has been increased to $12.45 million, with an additional $2.5 million for Montello Primary School included in the 2024-25 State Budget.
This will ensure that we deliver the plan that was developed and shared with the school and broader community for feedback.
The works are expected to be completed in 2026.
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're investing $188 million for a School Building Blitz that will deliver upgrades at 15 schools across the State.
