WorkSafe Month 2024

Tasmanian Government

WorkSafe Month is a pivotal time for Tasmanians to evaluate how we are prioritising our health, safety and wellbeing within our workplaces.

Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs, Michael Ferguson, said whether a team leader or a frontline worker, October presents a golden opportunity for everyone to focus on how we can stay safe and well each day.

"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is all about keeping Tasmanians strong, healthy and safe, and what each of us can do to promote safety at work makes a difference," said Minister Ferguson.

"Since its inception, WorkSafe Month has empowered us all to better manage workplace hazards, understand our rights and responsibilities, and to enhance mental health and wellbeing in our workplaces.

"This year, we continue the theme 'Safe Bodies, Safe Minds.' We are again excited to offer an enriching program that includes free webinars, facilitated in-person seminars, workshop discussions and the annual Health and Safety Representatives Conference in Launceston and Hobart.

"These sessions will focus on key sectors and issues to enhance the capabilities of both employers and workers through education, and achieve a better work-life balance.

"Topics on the agenda will encompass managing workplace stress and psychosocial hazards, achieving positive return-to-work outcomes, managing conflict and disrespectful behaviours, and fostering safe and supportive work environments.

"I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to all the presenters within this year's program who have generously volunteered their time. The knowledge you share will support Tasmanian workplaces to make practical changes, not only leading to better outcomes at work, but also enhancing our State's position as a safe and desirable place to work."
