Plain English Foundation
Australia's Plain English Foundation today released its annual list of the worst words and phrases of the year. In another pandemic year, it is hardly surprising that COVID-19 featured in the 2021 list. But that wasn't the only area generating doublespeak and spin. The Foundation found plenty of poor public language, from marketing buzzwords and made-up Frankenwords to the mixed metaphor and non-apology of the year.
