WWF Statement On NOAA's 2024 Climate Report

WWF

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its 2024 annual global climate report Friday. It found that 2024 was the world's warmest year on record. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from Marcene Mitchell, senior vice president of climate change, in response:

"We are pushing our planet to its limits. With each record-setting year, the severity of impacts increases. We've all seen the unprecedented wildfires and floods as well as rising sea levels and collapsing ecosystems.

"This announcement is alarming, but not surprising. For nearly three decades, scientists have been warning us about the path we are on.

"The time has long passed for incremental change. We need more transformative actions to lead our communities to a sustainable future. The solutions are in our hands - what we do with them in this critical moment will determine our collective future."
