Wyndham Learning Festival Supports Local Creatives 18 June

This year's Wyndham Learning Festival includes unique bags featuring artwork from two local creatives Tia Misquitta and Bea Payla.

Wyndham City's Learning Portfolio holder Cr Jasmine Hill said: "Running from 1 September until 7 September 2024, the Wyndham Learning Festival, led and coordinated by the Wyndham Community & Education Centre and supported by Wyndham City, will showcase many new learning events that will inspire, challenge, and interest learners in Wyndham."

"The theme this year is Empowering Communities through Lifelong Learning and supporting two local creatives connects directly with this theme."

"The Wyndham Learning Festival committee considered all the entries in the Way Out West 2023 photography competition and selected Tia Misquitta and Bea Payla impressive work to be featured on the 5,000 festival bags."

Tia, a 14-year-old student from Williams Landing has a passion for photography and books and uses photography to explore her self-expression. She embodies the essence of a creative young person with boundless potential. Her image Love for Books was inspired by her favourite books including the Tom Gates series and was one of two selected to be featured on the festival bags.

Bea's image The Colour Thief was the second image selected. The 17-year-old student from Upper Point Cook commenced her journey into the realm of art and creativity with a visit to Bendigo during Chinese New Year festivities. Armed with her camera, Bea captured the vibrant hues and lively spirit of the Easter Festival parade, nurturing her budding photography skills. Bea ventures into a range of creative realms, including art, photography and music.

The Wyndham Learning Festival bags will be printed with the image on one side, and the Festival logo on the other and are reusable and a great way to feature two local artists and a lovely visual memento for festival attendees to keep.

The Wyndham Learning Festival 2024 encompasses a huge array of new events and activities for the community to learn and try something new.
