Wyndham's Young Person Of Month - June

Wyndham City is proud to announce Anisha Anand as the One Wyndham recipient for June.

Anisha is an active and engaged member of Wyndham's Youth Volunteering team and is involved in assisting with a range of community activities and events, including the Library Youth Collaboration, which meets fortnightly to identify current relevant issues in society and to develop programs and events to engage young people and meet their needs within our local library network.

Anisha recently won Heat 2 of the Rotary Youth Wyndham Speaking Competition - Wynspeak. She also participated in the Young Scientist Competition, Turn the Dial workshop and Reclink workshop.

Anisha is passionate about inclusivity and making sure everyone is included, especially culturally and linguistically diverse communities. She volunteers at cultural events including Aus Tamil, Hare Krishna, Oromo Women's Networking group and the Ethiopian community.

Anisha's passion for volunteering with AusTamil has fostered important connections with the Tamil community and has strengthened community.

Taking part and joining with the Hare Krishna Community through singing and Indian dancing at their cultural events has encouraged inclusion.

She is currently pursuing the silver Duke of Edinburgh award through cadets which involves achieving levels of skills in fitness for physical recreation, camping for adventurous journeys, and teaching and volunteering for service. This experience has developed Anisha' skills in planning, setting and achieving goals.

Anisha excels in a range of personal interests including basketball, singing, dancing, acting, photography, creative arts and her secondary school roles.

Engaging with the community benefits everyone and also develops Anisha's personal growth, leadership skills, and community contribution.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Jennie Barrera said: "Anisha is a proactive positive individual."

"She is community minded and a role model for young people in Wyndham, being involved in community activities and endeavours, academic pursuits and sporting activities. She also encourages young people to get involved, participate and be part of the community."

"Wyndham City appreciates Anisha's commitment to the Wyndham community."
