Young people from all around the world will gather in Rio de Janeiro between August 12 and 16 for Y20, the G20 Youth Engagement Group, to place their voices at the center of global decisions. The Summit will begin on International Youth Day, helping to ensure that the priorities and aspirations of young people are taken directly to G20 leaders to influence issues such as the future of work, climate change, and social inclusion.

Officially held since 2010, Y20 is recognized as one of the most influential international forums dedicated to youth. As the world faces more complex challenges, the role of young people in shaping public policies and social transformation is becoming increasingly important.

"This is the largest generation of young people in the history of humanity, and the way we deal with their concerns and aspirations will define the common future of all," said Barão. He highlights the historical role of young people as a force for social transformation, capable of challenging the status quo and presenting new political, social and cultural perspectives.

The Summit will be marked by intense debates that will culminate in a document to be delivered to the G20 heads of State. Prepared by representatives from all countries and the Group itself, this document will ensure that the perspective of young people on the main global challenges is considered at the G20 Leaders' Summit in November.

According to Y20 Chair Marcus Barão, the Brazilian leadership is committed to strengthening the participation of young people in the G20, turning them into protagonists. "This is the largest generation of young people in the history of humanity, and the way we deal with their concerns and aspirations will define the common future of all," said Barão. He highlights the historical role of young people as a force for social transformation, capable of challenging the status quo and presenting new political, social and cultural perspectives.

The Brazilian presidency of Y20 defined five priority themes for the summit: combating hunger, poverty and inequality; climate change, energy transition and sustainable development; reform of the global governance system; inclusion and diversity; and innovation and the future of the world of work.

Brasil will be represented at the summit by five young people selected through a public notice: Philippe Silva, Mahryan Sampaio, Daniela Costa, Leandro Corrêa, and Guilherme Rosso. Each of them will work in one of the priority thematic areas. Philippe Silva, head of the Brazilian delegation, emphasizes the importance of Y20 in amplifying innovative solutions and inclusive policies: "Our commitment is to guarantee the dignity and well-being of all Brazilians, especially the most vulnerable, building a more just and egalitarian future." As the host country, Brasil will be also leading the meetings and a participatory process that included over 30 regional meetings and a pre-summit held in Belém, the future venue for COP30 in 2025.
