Yarra Council has appointed skate park specialists Grind Projects to revamp the Fitzroy North skate park located in Edinburgh Gardens.
The upgrade, which is set to commence in May 2022, aims to create a more welcoming, inclusive and accessible skate park for all abilities.
The facility will more than double in size and will be designed for both beginners and advanced users. It will incorporate increased access for some wheelchair-based users, as well as more seating for spectators and other visitors, and access to shade.
Council conducted a consultation process on the redevelopment with the wider Yarra community, and worked closely with local skaters, BMXers, rollerbladers, rollerskaters, and scooter riders of all ages and abilities.
Grind Projects is made up of dedicated skaters, committed to building high quality, safe skate parks people of all ages and abilities.
