Exciting plans are in the pipeline for Yarragon, and Baw Baw Shire Council is committed to ensuring its residents are at the forefront of the development that lies ahead.
Seven key projects are planned for the township, each of which will feed into an overall Yarragon Master Plan.
To help guide the formation and direction of the Master Plan, Council is creating a Yarragon Project Reference Group (PRG) and is inviting applications from community members interested to join and provide advice.
This group will have a unique opportunity to inform Council decision making and have their say on the various projects popping up.
The seven upcoming projects in Yarragon are:
- Rollo Street Master Plan
- Yarragon Streetscape Master Plan
- Loch Street Upgrade
- Campbell Street Upgrade
- Yarragon Train Station
- Yarragon and Trafalgar Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety Study – now live on Baw Baw Connect!
- Dowton Park Pavilion
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Annemarie McCabe said this was an exciting chance for Yarragon locals to make a big impact on the future of their town.
"At Baw Baw we are committed to including our community in our decision making, and the formation of a Project Reference Group for the Yarragon Master Plan will ensure that the people who these projects impact the most, have their voices heard," Cr McCabe said.
"We hope to receive expressions of interest from a broad range of community members including those who know the town well, people new to Yarragon, local business owners and traders and representatives from our sporting clubs.
"We want our residents to bring balanced feedback and ideas and inform the planning and implementation of these exciting projects."
The PRG will meet of a Tuesday or Thursday night at 5.30 pm in Yarragon, with interested members encouraged to note their preference in day when submitting their application.
