Yarra's New Councillors Sworn In for 4-Year Term

Yarra City Council
Richmond Town Hall

On 12 November, Yarra City Council's newly elected group of 9 Councillors will be sworn-in at a ceremony held at Richmond Town Hall.

The ceremony will take place following the announcement of the results of the local government election by the Victorian Electoral Commission earlier the same day. The ceremony will be conducted by Yarra City Council CEO Sue Wilkinson.

The new Councillor group includes:

  • Sharon Harrison, representing Boulevard Ward
  • Edward Crossland, representing Curtain Ward
  • Sophie Wade, representing Hoddle Ward
  • Evangeline Aston, representing Langridge Ward
  • Andrew Davies, representing Lennox Ward
  • Stephen Jolly, representing MacKillop Ward
  • Meca Ho, representing Melba Ward
  • Kenneth Gomez, representing Nicholls Ward
  • Sarah McKenzie, representing Yarra Bend Ward

The Councillor group will soon begin an intensive induction program to familiarise themselves with the workings of Council and begin working collectively for the Yarra community.

The new Councillor group will decide upon a Mayor and Deputy Mayor at an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 19 November.

This Councillor group will be the new decision-making body for Yarra City Council over the next four years.

One of the first things on Council and the Councillors' agenda is the new Council Plan. The Council Plan informs all our work, decision making and strategic direction over the next 4 years.

The Council Plan 2025-29 is currently in its first stage of broad community engagement. If you'd like to provide feedback, make sure to do so before 9am on Monday 9 December 2024 on Your Say Yarra.
