The new Yarrawonga Library is beginning to take shape as steel frame construction works continue as part of the major redevelopment project.
The first stage of structural steel works and brickwork has been completed, while the second and third stages are expected to be finished in the new year.
The final section of the concrete slab foundation was poured in October.
Stage 1 of the $11.26 million Yarrawonga Library, Events and Performance Precinct redevelopment project will see construction of the new, state of the art Yarrawonga Library, which also includes community meeting spaces, a gallery and foyer area and a café/commercial kitchen.
Moira Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Matthew Morgan said continuing construction works showed the project turning into reality.
"Seeing the building physically taking shape is an exciting milestone for the community, and shows the forward momentum to deliver a modern, spacious building for the community," Mr Morgan said.
"Libraries provide a crucial service as community hubs and play a key role in keeping people connected, engaged and inspired, and the new Yarrawonga Library will create an accessible, inclusive community space for the Yarrawonga community.
"We are also continuing to work with the Yarrawonga Town Hall Future Use Advisory Group to imagine a future for the historic Town Hall building, which will give it a new purpose that meets the community's current and future needs."
The facility is expected to be open to the community in early 2026.
This project is jointly funded by Council, and the Victorian Government's Community Infrastructure Loan Scheme and Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
