The Yarrawonga Multisport Stadium project has taken another step forward, with tenders for design and construction of the complex closing yesterday.

A detailed assessment process is currently underway, with Moira Shire Council set to make an announcement on the successful tenderer in late January 2025.

The stadium will include two modern courts with seating that can support a range of sports, as well as meeting rooms, umpire rooms, changing rooms, offices, a canteen and more.

It will be designed to enable year-round participation in sports and activities for all ages, abilities and interests.

Moira Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Matthew Morgan said it was an exciting step forward in creating an environment that supports a fast-growing and highly engaged sporting community in Yarrawonga.

"The past six months have seen detailed work to ensure the project has really strong governance around to it ensure it is delivered to meet the needs of the community," Mr Morgan said.

"Part of this has been a detailed, two-stage tender process to shortlist from an earlier expression of interest, which will ensure we have the right partner to deliver the long-awaited multisport facility for our community.

"We know that the community has been waiting a long time for this project to progress – we're now at the very pointy end and we expect after we award the tender that construction will commence in mid-2025.""

"We've been working closely with the key user groups in recent months, and although we can't say much until we've completed the tender assessment, I know that we're all very excited to be at the point where we're about to see real progress."

The Yarrawonga Multisport Stadium Project is jointly funded by Moira Shire Council, the Australian Government Community Development Grants Programme, the Victorian Government Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, and the Yarrawonga-Mulwala Basketball Association. The project is also supported by a community fundraising effort, including from the Yarrawonga Holiday Park Committee of Management.
