A Queensland family's night erupted into cheers and tears when a local mom discovered her $1 million win from Wednesday's Weekday Windfall draw, making her an overnight millionaire and the toast of her household.
The Gulliver local held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4453, drawn Wednesday, 9 October 2024 and looks forward to a neat $1 million.
The winning woman received the surprise of a lifetime when she answered the winning phone call from lottery officials and discovered, she was now a newly-minted millionaire.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” she gasped.
“You’re joking! Oh my god! I’m shaking!
“I can’t believe it. This isn’t a joke, is it?
“I just yelled to my husband, ‘You might want to come downstairs! I think I’ve won something really good with Lotto!’.
“My granddaughter, who is beside me, has just called my daughter on the phone. We’ve got some of the family here listening in!”
With her bank account about to receive a few extra zeros, the generous grandmother had one thing in mind - to help support her beloved family.
“I’ve always said if I won something big, I’d share it with my family!” she exclaimed.
“This will really help us so much.”
Her winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Mooney News and Lotto, 86 Mooney Street, QLD, Gulliver, 4812.
