Cairns' residents and professionals in the creative industries are invited to participate in a survey aimed at shaping the strategic direction of arts and culture in a new Creative Life strategy.
The survey is currently open via Council's website until early 2025.
In partnership with Regional Arts Services Network (RASN), Council will also give people the opportunity to provide feedback in person at the following events:
- Babinda Harvest Festival: Saturday 7 September
- Gordonvale Cottage Markets: Saturday 5 October
- Palm Cove Markets: Sunday 6 October
Over the past five years, research and impact assessments (data Source: Strategy for Culture and the Arts 2022 Report Card) has shown the Creative Life strategy has:
- Enhanced community wellbeing
- Fostered new audiences for cultural venues
- Increased conservation and appreciation of the region's significant heritage and cultural
- Promoted creative excellence and innovation
- Strengthened community expectations for the arts and cultural, including visible, engaging, accessible and vibrant spaces and places
- Strengthened our national and international identity as a city of the arts and culture
Community consultation will ensure that Council continues to support the growth and diversity of arts and cultural activities in Cairns, benefiting both residents and visitors alike.
The survey will close in early-2025.
