Discussions and results related to climate change and sustainability, key themes at the G20, were presented by the competent bodies of the federal government at the beginning of October at a press conference attended by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, the Executive Secretary of the Environment, João Paulo Capobianco, the National Secretary of Climate Change, Ana Toni, and representatives of the Brazilian embassy. The meeting addressed several topics, such as the recurrent wildfires in Brasil, cleaning up the oceans, global warming, and tackling desertification.

The ministerial meeting is part of the activities of the G20, which will hold its Leaders' Meeting in Rio de Janeiro on November 18th and 19th. At the press conference of the Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group, some of the solutions proposed were the creation of a fund for forest protection and the taxation of the super-rich, enabling around 2% of their profits to be allocated to environmental and payments for ecosystem services. .

Minister Marina Silva stated that there must be synergy between the debates on biodiversity, desertification, and climate change, mentioning that actions need to be carried out jointly to achieve better results. "The intensification of climate change is also aggravating social inequality," she said.

The Young Reporters asked the National Secretary for Climate Change, Ana Toni, how young people could help and how this influenced their lives. She replied that many proposals and interesting ideas presented by young people were discussed during the meetings and that she hopes these efforts really have an impact on this important section of the population.

Finally, the event adopted an innovative approach, addressing concrete actions to solve the environmental and climate problems affecting Brasil and many countries worldwide. Many solutions were presented, demonstrating that a better planet now depends not only on the actions of governments but on the awareness of all of us.
