Young Leaders Wanted to Shape Devonport's Future

Devonport City Council Tasmania

The Devonport Youth Advisory Group (DEVYAG) is excited to announce that applications are now open for young people passionate about making a difference in their community to join the group. DEVYAG is seeking motivated youth aged 14 to 21 who want to work alongside the Devonport City Council to voice their ideas, address issues affecting young people, and participate in impactful projects.

Joining DEVYAG provides young people a unique opportunity to actively contribute to their community and influence decisions that shape the future of Devonport. DEVYAG members will have the chance to develop their leadership skills, collaborate on youth-focused initiatives, and gain hands-on experience in community involvement. This is a powerful platform for young leaders to advocate for change, propose innovative solutions, and address the needs and aspirations of Devonport's youth.

Mayor Alison Jarman expressed her support, saying, "Devonport's youth are not just our future leaders; they are the voice of today. Through DEVYAG, we want to empower our young people to actively shape the community they are proud to call home. Their insights, ideas, and enthusiasm will help us build a vibrant, engaging and inclusive Devonport."

She added, "This is an extraordinary opportunity for young people to contribute to the direction of our city, collaborate with Council, and play a meaningful role in the decisions that impact their lives and their peers. DEVYAG reflects our commitment to listening to and learning from the youth of Devonport."

Applications are open now, and all eligible youth are encouraged to apply for this exciting opportunity to represent Devonport's young voices.
