A Victorian man is set to trade his old car for a flashy new model after securing a big chunk of the weekend's $5.2 million lotto jackpot.
The Reservoir local held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4507, drawn Saturday 28 September 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $523,428.93.
The winning entry was unregistered, which means officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the ticketholder and had to wait for them to check their ticket and come forward.
“I just went numb when I found out,” the winner exclaimed.
“I didn’t really know what was happening when I went to the newsagency; I had no idea!
“I had two tickets to check at the local newsagency, and I went in, and the team member behind the counter scanned them in. It came up as a locked prize, and we were all confused.
“Her manager came over and he scanned the ticket on his phone for me. He turned to me, and then said, ‘You’re the one! You’re the one!’. I replied, ‘I’m the one? What do you mean?’.
“I then looked at one of the posters hanging up and I read that they sold a division one winning entry, and it clicked!
“Thank you so much for the team at The Lott. I’m so grateful.”
The humble man, excited to treat himself to a brand-new car, also expressed he was keen to put the rest of the prize away and invest it for the future.
“I’d love to upgrade the car and also put some money away to ensure it lasts,” he said.
“Unfortunately, I’m not fit for work anymore because I severely hurt myself years ago, and this will really help!”
His winning entry was purchased at Reservoir Newsagency, 36 Edwardes Street, Reservoir.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4507 on 28 September 2024 were 34, 40, 29, 15, 19 and 37, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 44.
