Everyone will have the unique opportunity to join by registering on the Y20 website.
On Monday 19 July the Youth 20 (Y20) will begin. It is the official engagement group of the G20 created with the aim of allowing young people to express their visions and ideas to the Heads of State and Government of the G20.
This year the Y20 Summit will be virtually hosted by Bergamo and Milan on 19-23 July everyone will have the unique opportunity to join by registering on the Y20 website.
During the summit, young people will have the opportunity to listen to and directly interact with government officials, representatives of international organizations and executives from the major Italian and international companies.
Ideas and proposals on the following three macro areas will be shared:
- Innovation, digitalization and the future of work
- Sustainability, climate and energy
- Inclusion and equal opportunities
During the first day of the Summit, following the welcome remarks by Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan and Massimo Gaudina, Head of European Commission Representation in Milan, the Italian Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility Enrico Giovannini and the FAO Director General QU Dongyu will share insights on the important topic of sustainability and the role that the youth play in building a 'greener' society. The conference will continue with interventions by Alessandro Spada, President of Assolombarda, and Diana Bracco, President of the Bracco Foundation.
The second day of the Summit will be virtually hosted by the city of Bergamo, where participants will be welcomed by the Mayor Giorgio Gori and the Rector of the University of Bergamo Remo Morzenti Pellegrini. During a panel discussion, the Mayor and the Rector will be joined by the Italian Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, the FAO Deputy Director Maurizio Martina, and the Policy Advisors of the G20 Presidency Andrea Gumina and Tommaso Murè, along with the international Y20 Delegates.
On the third day, there will be an interactive panel discussion on the topic of Innovation, Education and the Future of Work that will see the participation of World Bank Executive Director Matteo Bugamelli, Assolombarda Vice President for University, Innovation and Human Capital and CEO of Bayer SpA Monica Poggio, ILO Senior Specialist Susana Puerto and representatives from the G20 Presidency.
The day will then continue with a contribution by UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore who will share her insights on how the climate crisis is affecting children, and the UN Women Ambassador for Africa Jaha Dukureh.
During the fourth day of the Summit, co-organized with the Y20 knowledge partner International Coffee Organization, the youth will meet the leaders of the coffee sector for an interactive dialogue on sustainability, inclusion and innovation in the coffee value chain. In particular, unique insights will be shared by José Sette, Executive Director of ICO, Mario Cerutti, President of the Italian Coffee Committee, Juan Estèban Orduz, Chair of the World Coffee Producers Forum, Andrea Illy, Chairman of illycaffè, Marco Lavazza, Vice-President of Lavazza Group, Alberto Vacchi, Chairman and CEO of IMA S.p.A.
The inputs gathered from the first four days of the Summit will be then leveraged to finalize the Y20 Communiqué which will be officially handed over to the G20 Sherpa, Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo, during the last day of the Summit.
