Expressions of Interest are now open for young people wanting to join Bayside Council's Youth Advisory Group (YAG) and provide advice on issues relevant to local youth in Bayside.
The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is an opportunity for young people to have their voices heard, represent local young people, and advise Council on key youth issues and initiatives within Bayside.
Membership of the YAG is open to local young people between 12 and 18 years of age and Council is looking to attract a diverse group of applicants reflecting its multicultural community.
The YAG plays a key role in advocating for young people's needs and ensuring their voices are heard. Members work alongside Council to provide advice on youth programs, community projects, and key initiatives that impact young people across Bayside.
Over the past two years, the YAG has:
- Led and facilitated Youth Week events, creating opportunities for young people to engage and celebrate their community.
- Contributed to local projects, including consultations on recreational spaces and parks.
- Advocated on a state level, participating in government consultations on issues such as mental health, youth engagement, and social cohesion.
- Helped shape youth programs, including workshops in STEM, creative arts and including break out spaces for HSC students during outreach programs.
The YAG meets at least four times a year at Arncliffe Youth Centre, with additional opportunities to engage in events.
Expressions of Interest are now open.
Young people interested in joining can apply using this online form.
