Youth Council Make Impact

The Horsham Youth Council made a major impact on a beloved space over this past weekend.

As part of the campaign that saw the Council elected in June of 2023, the group pledged to plant a tree for every vote received on the ballot. The successful campaign saw the group receive a total of 617 votes from 11 - 17-year-olds within the Horsham LGA.

The group worked with the HRCC to find a suitable space for the planting operation, with the Horsham Cemetery being chosen. The group also collaborated with the Dalki Garringa Native Nursery and Landcare to select the species of trees and procure the saplings.

"The Council is excited to make an impact on such a sentimental space" said Foundation for Young Australian's representative Noah Talbot.

"An impact that will be felt even more as the trees mature"

Despite receiving 617 votes, the group planted more than double their commitment, seeing over 1300 trees planted.
