Young people aged 14 to 25 looking for ideas or direction on job and career opportunities are encouraged to come along to next week's 2021 Youth Expo.
An initiative of Council's Youth Engagement Services team, the expo will be held in the Langtree Mall on Wednesday 13 January from 4pm to 8pm, featuring representatives from a broad range of agencies who will be on hand to provide information on career and training opportunities.
These agencies include Victoria Police recruitment, Richmond Institute, 50 Jobs in 50 Days, SuniTAFE, WADEA works, Axis Employment, Youth Engagement Services and Northern Mallee Local Employment Network.
There will also be a series of free information workshops, which are available to young people who live, work or attend school in the municipality, as well as a free barbecue lunch and live entertainment.
Mildura Mayor Jason Modica said the expo came at a great time for young people looking at their options for the future.
"The beginning of the year is a time when many young people may be considering their future, whether they've just completed another year at school, or are simply looking for a career change," Cr Modica said.
"Next week's Youth Expo could provide young people with information on potential career paths they may not have even considered, or if they have, it may be the trigger for them making a decision."
Information will include local job and career opportunities, registered training providers, upcoming courses and volunteer training opportunities.
