Youth Grants Program Set To Open

Horsham Rural City Council (HRCC) will open its Youth Grants program from July 1.

The initiative funds non-profit groups that are committed to creating projects and activities which enrich the lives of young people in the Horsham municipality.

Funding opportunities and guidelines

The HRCC Youth Grants offer financial support ranging from $200 to $2,500 for projects that empower youth leadership, engagement, and development. Council encourages applications that include a cash and/or in-kind contribution from the applicant organisation.

Grant application period

Applications are accepted year-round or until exhausted, with assessments conducted quarterly in September, December, March, and June. Projects must be completed within 12 months of the grant notification date to ensure timely impact.

Eligible projects

HRCC seeks to fund a diverse range of youth-oriented projects, including but not limited to:

  • Leadership development activities
  • Youth-led and co-designed initiatives
  • Programs that recognise and enhance the skills of young people
  • Projects that foster positive community engagement
  • Skill-building and educational opportunities
  • Climate change action and environmental sustainability efforts.

Who can apply

Youth aged 10 to 24 or projects solely benefiting this age group within the Horsham municipality are eligible to apply. Applicants must be backed by a not-for-profit community organisation and possess public liability insurance.

Exclusions

Individuals, private or for-profit organisations, and projects that have already started are not eligible. The grant does not support projects that are the responsibility of other government sectors or those that promote religious activities excluding community members.

Assessment and funding

The HRCC Youth Team, with input from the Youth Council, will assess applications. The Director Communities & Place will approve grants based on alignment with the Youth Strategy and the project's value for investment.

How to apply

From July 1, applicants can fill out the online form. For assistance, contact the HRCC Youth Team at 53829777. Detailed application requirements can be found in the addendum document linked in the application form.

Grant payment and reporting

Funding is released upon project completion. Organisations must submit an online Completion Report, along with payment evidence, and invoice the Council for grant payment.
