Youth Minister Dave Kelly today announced the 54 successful applicants for the Youth Week WA 2022 Grants Program.
Youth-oriented community organisations and local governments across Western Australia will again be staging events during Youth Week 2022 thanks to the State Government's Youth Week WA 2022 Grants Program.
Youth Week WA runs from April 8 to 16 and is an annual State-wide celebration of the positive contributions young people aged 10 to 25 years make to the community.
It provides young people with the opportunity to express their ideas, raise important issues, make decisions and create entertainment.
Grants of up to $1,500 were available to eligible organisations as a contribution to activities or events celebrating Youth Week WA 2022 and grants of up to $3,000 were available for collaborative, community-wide events involving a range of partners.
Grant recipients in 2022 include:
- the Shire of Gnowangerup, for a youth festival which will incorporate events and workshops running throughout Youth Week in the communities of Borden, Gnowangerup, and Ongerup;
- the Shire of Broome, to hold an inclusive and youth-led Youth Forum, supported by a program of workshops which will engage young people through creative expression and link with the local library, and a 'Youth Keeper Project' that will also engage young people in a creative self-expression initiative which will develop young people's creative skills and coping mechanisms and lead to a public exhibition;
- the City of Kwinana, for the Kwinana Music Showcase which will showcase the talents of young and emerging local musicians in Kwinana to other young people and the wider community; and
- the Augusta Community Resource Centre, for a three-part 'roller disco' workshop where a rollerskating school works with local youth to introduce beginners to the sport or improve their skills in rollerskating.

"I'm delighted to announce that Youth Week WA is back in 2022 and that the State Government is again supporting Youth Week events.
"These activities provide young people in local communities across the State with opportunities to be key contributors in the planning, development and delivery of Youth Week WA events and projects.
"The theme for Youth Week WA 2022 is 'Courage to Change', which grew from discussions with young people about the many ways that change happens, be it social change, personal change, political change, or ecological changes.
"'Courage to Change' is a call to action, empowering young people to form their own opinions, shape decision-making and enact change, and I look forward to seeing this play out in Youth Week WA 2022."
