Youths Charged for Setting Two Fires in Kingston

Two youths have been charged over two deliberately lit fires in Kingston last night.

Police allege two youths set fire to vegetation in John Street, Kingston about 6pm. They then started a fire inside Coles Kingston, causing smoke damage estimated at this time to be between $25,000 and $75,000 damage. The store had to be evacuated and closed.

Kingston Police took two youths, aged 12 and 15, into custody nearby and they were interviewed by Hobart CIB and charged with offences including unlawfully set fire to property and unlawfully set fire to vegetation.

They were given conditional bail to appear in Youth Justice Court at a later date.
