Multiple Arrests, Maryborough CBD

Police have arrested four people during patrols targeting antisocial behaviour in Maryborough's CBD.

Around 8.20am on 30 April, officers intercepted a man at the Maryborough markets on Adelaide Street and allegedly located a knife and drugs in his possession.

The 34-year-old Maryborough man has been charged with possessing a knife in a public place, possessing drug utensils/pipe and failing to dispose of needle and syringe.

He will appear before Maryborough Magistrates Court on 18 May.

At 9.55am, police received reports of another man displaying antisocial behaviour in the Maryborough markets.

It is alleged when the man was approached by officers, he produced a syringe and failed to comply with police directions.

A 44-year-old man was charged obstruct police and fail to dispose of a syringe. He was further charged with an alleged wilful exposure incident on 11 April at the intersection of Kent and Lennox Streets.

The man has been remanded in custody to face Maryborough Magistrates Court on 2 May.

At approximately 12.30am on 1 May, officers were conducting foot patrols of the CBD conducting wanding as a part of Jack's Law when they intercepted a woman allegedly wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The 32-year-old was arrested and faced Maryborough Magistrates Court on 1 May. She has been remanded in custody to reappear on 7 May.

Around 10.30am, police allegedly located a man in possession of a homemade slingshot and knives on Bazaar Street.

A 36-year-old Maryborough man has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, going armed so as to cause fear and possessing a knife in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody to face Maryborough Magistrates Court on 2 May.

Maryborough Police Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Neville Zarkovich said police will continue to target and respond to anti-social behaviour and dangerous activity within the Maryborough CBD, and officers would like to thank the community for their assistance in reporting this behaviour.
