Police Seize Motorcycle After Traffic Offenses

Police have seized a motorcycle in Wynyard following a series of traffic offences involving a 14-year-old rider.

The youth will be proceeded against for the following offences:

• Operate a vehicle in a public place involving unnecessary speed, acceleration or loss of traction

• Drive whilst not the holder of a driver licence

• Use an unregistered motor vehicle

• Use a motor vehicle without required insurance (no premium cover)

• Ride a motorcycle without wearing a helmet

The motorcycle has been seized for a period of three months as this is a second prescribed offence, with the youth having been charged with evade police in a separate incident last month.

Police continue to target dangerous driving behaviours, particularly those linked to the Fatal Five, and remind the community that reckless use of vehicles places not only the driver at risk, but also other road users and pedestrians.

Anyone with information about dangerous driving is encouraged to contact police or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperstas.com.au.
