Police have charged a man after a stolen vehicle was tracked from Ipswich to Loganlea last night, 1 May.
Just before 10pm, a stolen white Toyota Corolla was sighted in Dinmore and tracked by POLAIR, before police attempted to intercept the vehicle on Brisbane Road Bundamba. The vehicle has allegedly failed to stop and continued driving.
The Corolla was reported stolen by a hire car company earlier that day after it failed to be returned.
Police successfully deployed a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) in Redbank after which the vehicle continued for a short distance before it crashed into a blue Suzuki Swift on Collingwood Drive.
It will be alleged, the driver of the Corolla, a 23-year-old man, then exited the vehicle and entered the Suzuki, demanding the driver to get out of the car. The driver complied and was not physically injured.
The Suzuki was tracked to Logan Motorway to Loganholme where it crashed into a white Kia Cerato around 12.40am.
The driver of the Kia exited the vehicle and it is alleged the 23-year-old man exited the Suzuki, stole the Kia, and fled the scene before crashing into a ditch shortly after. The driver of the Kia was not physically injured.
Police arrested the 23-year-old Chinchilla man at the scene a short time later. He has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle- use in the night and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful entry of a vehicle for committing indictable offence at night, evasion offence at night and driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence.
